BLIND

Released: January 21, 2019

lyrics

hope you are doing better than you were with me
run so far but know you're closer than you want to be
opened your eyes and learned that you don't need me in your life
closing mine, don't need to open them to know I'm blind

don't know what's going on around,
all I know is I'm so sad now
used to fight for what I want,
now all I want to do is back down
I don't even know who you are anymore
you've gone through some changes I want to ignore
I wish you'd be like who you were years ago
but I wish the same for me, though

I thought it
was meant to be
'cause of what
you meant to me
then I learned
eventually
that I was
being deceived

I've been trying so hard now
to forget my past
because it hurts to look back on
what you put your effect on
and what you became
(what you became)

why did I think
that it would last?
because I cared and now that's gone,
wish I knew you were that wrong
and I hope you forget my name

hope you are doing better than you were with me
run so far but know you're closer than you want to be
opened your eyes and learned that you don't need me in your life
closing mine, don't need to open them to know I'm blind

about

BLIND—despite being one of the earliest released tracks—still shows technical writing dexterity. The motif is vision. There are many allusions.

The structure of the chorus captures a back-and-forth dynamic. Captures a resolve. There’s intentional parallelism in its lyricism.

The released version of BLIND has since been hidden. There may someday be the release of what BLIND was supposed to be.
